DJEMBABES PERFORMANCE AT DOUGHERTY ARTS CENTER at 1110 Barton Springs Road, Austin, Texas on JANUARY 13th,2007at 7:30 pm at the Austin Friends of Traditional Music MIDWINTER FESTIVAL! FIRST NIGHT AUSTIN, Dec. 31, 2006, the DJEMBABES AND FRIENDS will be performing on the First Street Bridge at 11:15pm. Sherry Gingras, Djembabe's founder and Director, will be leading the community in a New Year's Eve Community drum circle following the Djembabes set! Please join us for this exciting and powerful closure to 2006 and let's UNIFY our hearts, minds, and spirits behind the vision of PEACE and GOODWILL TOWARDS ALL BEINGS and let us commit ourselves in solidarity to the relentless protection of our shared home, Mother Earth, in 2007 and all the years to come. May we REMEMBER our place in the continuum of life and honor the wisdom of those who have come before and of those yet to be born ! The Djembabes will be performing at the annual Hildegirls/Djembabe Extravaganza at Unity of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road on December 1th,2006 . The program begins at 7:30pm and we encourage everyone to come as early as 7pm to get a seat as these concerts usually sell out and no advance ticket sales are available. Our concert this year is to benefit GenAustin, a local organization that works diligently and with great commitment to insure the empowerpowerment of young middle school aged girls in our community. Please come out and support this wonderful work and at the same time enjoy the healing and spirited energy of 84 women singing, drumming, dancing and sending out the vibration of peace,love and understanding ! Come prepared to be a part of this community music making journey with us and wear your dancin' shoes!
