Then on December 17th at Central Market, The Djembabes will be playing their final show of 2011! Central Market is our very favorite Central Austin venue and these show are very family friendly! Lots of children join us at the early show and they give their parents a lesson in how to move to the groove without limitations and self judgement! They let these rhythms in and they FEEL the music and they MOVE....beautifully illustrating what these magical rhythms are designed to do! This is what remains on our schedule going forward from now! We hope to see many of you at these upcoming events and we believe they represent intentions to come together and create a healthier, more sustainable, equitable, compassionate and peaceful world for all beings and for the generations to come!I believe that truly GRACE happens when we come together with a shared intention on behalf of our world, and I believe that these upcoming events will be just such occassions! We support the Occupations across our Nation and our world and believe they are valuable, important, and inevitable events taking place on behalf of the 99%. We see this as being part of our Conscious Evolution and the beginning of a powerful and exciting shifting of the old paradigms ...moving from an Industrial Growth Society, that is not viable on this precious planet, to a Life-Sustaining Society. The 1% has destroyed, for huge profit and outrageous personal wealth, vast amounts of our planet's finite natural systems that support all life on earth( our oceans, our rain forrests, the soil, the grasslands, and all other living things) with little or no regard for the consequences to the other 99% of us and to all of life as we know it. The ramifications of such lack of conscience is too vast to imagine, for most, and yet it is essential that we face this potentially morbid reality if we are going to effect change before it is too late. In our own Nation we can not close our eyes to the staggering unemployment, the lack of health care, the plight of the homeless, the slashing of the budgets for our children's educations, the "selling out" of our political candidates and our leaders to corporate interests, the travesty that occurred with the Wall Street bail outs using OUR MONEY, the billions of dollars spent to wage wars on foreign soils( much of it borrowed from China), and the now multi-trillion dollar debt we face.

These Occupations are peaceful resistance movements searching for ways to heal our Nation ,and ultimately our world, and evolve our governments policies to reflect the needs of the vast majority and the highest good of all. Our inter-connectedness can no longer be a minor issue in our world embraced by the few! Our future is dependent on the recognition, acknowledgement, and honoring of this reality. We are truly all in this together! The Occupations are in support of peace, environmental, economic and social justice, and the resurgence of true Democracy that, as intended by our forefathers, is of the people, by the people, and for the people. We hope that this movement and the shared intent of the Occupations to create a saner, healthier,more harmonious, more equitable, life-sustaining society continues to gain support and momentum across the land. Please lend your expertise and your help to these groups as many of the members are young and could use the input of those with more life experience and wisdom. We encourage the Austin Community to be open to this Occupation at our City Hall and to all Occupations across the Nation and the world. Check out our local Occupation personally to make your own educated decision about your involvement. We hope that in recognition of the original intentions of our founding fathers, we not only tolerate dissent by the people when it becomes necessary, but we honor and respect it! If representing the 1% over the 99% does not constitute just cause for dissent, I don't know what would!Please come down to City Hall Friday evening, Nov. 4th, enjoy the music and rhythms of the Djembabes, and experience for yourself a taste of our local Occupation.

There are lots of great venues coming up for the Djembabes and we invite you all to join us when you can to share in the joy and beauty of these powerful,melodic, mesmerizing mostly West African rhythms and songs performed "Austin-Style" by Austin's most popular All Women's Drumsong Ensemble, THE DJEMBABES!

November 6th- CENTRAL MARKET at Lamar and 38th Street. One of our very favorite, family-friendly venues in all of Austin! We will play a set from 6:30pm-7:30pm and a second set from 8pm-9pm. This always draws a great and enthusiastic crowd of fans so come join in the fun and support the wonderful Austin Theater Action Project as this one is a benefit by HEB/CENTRAL MARKET. Free to the public though donations to Theater Action are always welcomed! SAVE MUSIC AND ART FOR OUR CHILDREN!

Nov. 7th- Momo's , World Music Night, downtown on 6th Street just above Katz' Deli. We will play at 7:45pm and part of the door will support "YELLOW BIKES" in Austin! A fantastic program to repair and re-new bikes for those in need.

December 7th- Momo's again...World Music Night sponsored bu KUT! We play at 9pm.

December 18th, Saturday night at 8pm , the Djembabes will be doing a holiday performance at the Zilker Hillside Theater! Join us if you can...bring the family! And dress warmly ( unless we happen to have one of our 80 degree winter evenings!)

February 5th, 2011, Join the incredible Sara Hickman at the Paramount Theatre for her big CD release bash in honor of Theater Action project. As Texas Musician of the Year, Sara has created a unique and wonderful compilation CD of her songs performed by other stellar Texas musicians ( including Willie Nelson, Asleep at the Wheel, Marcia Ball, THE DJEMBABES, and many other amazing Texas musicians) ! All sales to benefit the Theater Action Project in Austin to benefit our children with ART and MUSIC!More on this to come!

COMMUNITY DRUM CIRCLE
There will be a closing Community Drum Circle at the CANDLELIGHT VIGIL FOR HEALING OUR GULF at Wooldridge Park, 900 Guadalupe in downtown Austin. Please bring instruments, chairs, and an open heart and join us in this closing in this community musical closing. Vigil begins July 10th at 8pm.

OUR BIG BENEFIT CONCERT at ST. DAVID'S EPISCOPAL CHURCH DOWNTOWN takes place ON APRIL 10th at 8pm for the Amala Foundation and their incredible summer camp for youth. (www.amalafoundation.org) There will be food, beer and wine available for purchase for those who choose to come early and again at intermission at the church starting at 7pm. The doors for the concert will open at 7:45pm and the show begins at 8pm with a performance by Sherry's Women's Performance Class, The Drumsistas! There are 25 incredible women participating in this performance and it promises to rock the house! After intermission and some information about the Amala Foundation and the work they do to promote and teach Peace on Earth at their Summer Camp for Youth, the Djembabes will play until 10pm. On APRIL 13th at Riverbend Baptist Church in the Chapel at 7pm , THE DJEMBABES will be performing at a benefit for Truth Be Told WITH SARA HICKMAN and other guest performers. This Truth Be Told Art Auction : Creating a New Community with Artistic Flair , includes a silent auction, live entertainment, and food. The event takes place at Riverbend Church, April 13, 2010, 6:30pm-8:30pm. Please join us in support of this wonderful organization who work diligently to bring expressive arts programs into Women's Prisons and facilitate the healing and empowerment of these women by providing creative avenues for self expression and the telling of their stories.

The Djembabes will be performing at the annual Hildegirls/Djembabe Extravaganza at Unity of the Hills on Anderson Mill Road on December 1th,2006 . The program begins at 7:30pm and we encourage everyone to come as early as 7pm to get a seat as these concerts usually sell out and no advance ticket sales are available. Our concert this year is to benefit GenAustin, a local organization that works diligently and with great commitment to insure the empowerpowerment of young middle school aged girls in our community. Please come out and support this wonderful work and at the same time enjoy the healing and spirited energy of 84 women singing, drumming, dancing and sending out the vibration of peace,love and understanding ! THE DJEMBABES will be performing at the ART KENYA event and auction at The Austin Children's Museum on Saurday evening, October 21st. This is an amazing event and art auction of art created by local artists who received a "message in a bottle" from children orphaned in Kenya with their messages of their "dreams" for their future. These messages have been interpreted by many Austin artists in a multitude of mediums and their creations will be auctioned off at this ART KENYA event at the museum . All the proceeds will be going towards building a school in Kenya for these courageous and beautiful children who have been orphaned by the tragic AIDS epidemic in Kenya.Contact the Austin Children's Museum for details or visit:

The DJEMBABES will be performing for the WUDANG MONKS at another FREE concert at Barton Springs on Monday evening, the Full Moon, July 10th, from 9PM-9:45PM during free swim! This concert will be performed for our special guests, the WUDANG MONKS, who are in town from China for a series of workshops and talks. The public is welcome. We are honored immeasurably to have these distinguished visitors in our city sharing their music,gifts and talents.
